Bondi Mum

A blog about Bondi, motherhood and what happens when two worlds collide. I live in Bondi, with my husband, Bondi Dad (BD), and our two little girls, the Bijou Bondi Babes (BBBs). I was a journalist in a past life and some days still try to be, but mainly I am chef, accountant, washing lady, house cleaner, taxi driver, wife and mother and generally the meat in the sandwich of our lives, the glue that holds it all together. I created Bondi Mum because to me, parenting somewhere like Bondi is odd. Some days I wander about in my skinny jeans trying to look decidedly hip and keep up with the cool crowd, but other days the realities of motherhood hit home with a jolt. These are the days when I haven’t had time to shower and probably have Weetbix in my hair and I wonder what the hell I’m doing and why I haven’t taken flight to an easy suburban life like many other families. I know why however, I grew up in the ‘burbs and they are my idea of hell on earth. And I’m not alone. There are plenty of us families in and around Bondi, some rich, some poor, most from somewhere else, trying daily to reconcile the strange juxtaposition that is our lives. And that is what this blog is essentially about: Bondi, motherhood and what happens when two worlds collide.
